3. The Business Alliance for Northeast Mobility, "The Future of the Northeast Corridor"The Business Alliance is a coalition of the major business organizations from Richmond, VA to Portland, ME, including our Business Council of Fairfield County. This piece is presents a vision for federal and state co-investment in higher speed and more frequent inter-city and commuter rail in the Northeast Corridor. The Business Alliance is now mobilizing the congressional delegations in the 11 states of the Northeast Corridor to exploit opportunities in the stimulus package and the forthcoming reauthorization of the surface transportation bill to execute the vision. This work will build on the Business Alliance's successful lobbying effort in 2008 for a five-year, $12 billion reauthorization for Amtrak, including $6 billion to bring the Northeast Corridor to the state of good repair critical to enable higher speed and more frequent service.
